After visiting Tuscany with my family in 2017, I decided to make that area of Italy a part of my life. I wanted this experience for myself, my family, my friends, as well as a destination to help others enjoy this amazing area.

After months of hunting and visiting many towns, I fell in love with Montepulciano and decided to make it my home in Italy. When I talk to people about the villa and Montepulciano, I can only describe it as a dream come true – a veritable fantasyland for the senses. The landscape, the people, the culture, the history – and of course the food and wine – are truly magnificent. Staying at Villa Sogni D’Oro gives travelers the opportunity to “live like you live there” – and that is our mission for our guests. Being American, I renovated the Villa with special attention to providing the types of amenities Americans may expect or desire, while at the same time maintaining the authenticity of a 240 year old Tuscan farmhouse.

I live in Florida for the rest of the year, so a wonderful Montepulciano native, Elena Barbi, takes care of the villa when I can’t be there. She manages the house as well as a fantastic bed and breakfast in a town called Il Tosco.

As a Montepulciano native, I am an expert in the local culture and extremely knowledgeable about all the wonderful experiences our guests can have in the surrounding areas. One of my favorite responsibilities at Villa Sogni D’Oro is to welcome all of the guests. It gives me an opportunity to make sure that all their needs are met and to advise them on all the magnificent sights to see. I recommend only what I personally try and keep myself updated with local news and events.

I opened Il Tosco, Villa Sogni D’Oro’s sister villa, 7 years ago, and have the pleasure of meeting many international guests – like Adam! Our friendship and fabulous connection gave me the opportunity to assist Villa Sogni D’Oro when he is away. I work with my mom at Il Tosco. She is a wonderful chef…and although I am not, I’d be happy to steal some cakes and recipes for you!
