FAQs

Which is the best area in Tuscany to Visit?

Montepulciano, of course!  A cozy town is centrally located two hours north of Rome, 40 minutes from Siena, 90 minutes from Florence, 25 minutes from Cortona, and many other famous Tuscan locations.

Which airport do you fly into when holidaying in Tuscany?

Rome is a two-hour drive and has non-stop flights from the USA, and from everywhere else in the world.  Florence is slightly closer, a 90-minute drive, but it has no non-stop flights from the USA at present.

How many people would you recommend the villa for?

Each bedroom would typically sleep 1 – 2 people, or more if there are children, but normal parties will be 3 to 6 people, or up to 12 adults in the full, 6-bedroom house.

Are the views as wonderful as listed?

The views are fantastic.  Looking out the kitchen window, you may find yourself thinking you are looking at a painting – except it’s real!

Are there showers in each bathroom? For 6 people, is the house spacious?

There are showers in every bathroom.  We took great care to enlarge the rooms and bathrooms throughout the house, as well as to make the showers as large as we could.  The house is very spacious; in fact, we reduced the house from 8 bedrooms when we purchased it, to 6 bedrooms.  That means bigger bedrooms and bigger bathrooms!

How hot does the house get? Is there air conditioning?

Every bedroom and living room in the house has air conditioning.  All the windows are screened, something we found lacking in most Tuscan guest-lodging when we were tourists to the area.  So if you want to open your windows, you can.  If you want air conditioning, you will be very comfortable.

What are the grounds like? Are they hilly or a lot of stairs, ie, hard to get in and out of the home. If you were rating this home like a hotel would it be a 3 or a 4-star hotel?

The villa is luxurious.  We strove to make it a five-star property.  But, there are stairs (the house is over two hundred years old!), and if you have difficulty going up and downstairs, this may not be the villa for you.  Montepulciano itself is a hilltop town, so you can expect a few hills.

What is included in the price?

Usage of the villa for one week, whether one-half (3 bedrooms) or the entire villa (6 bedrooms) and various included sundries to make your stay more enjoyable.  Robust WiFi for entertainment and work.  Utilities, washer and dryer, and other modern amenities are all included.

How is the security deposit paid? When will it be refunded?

Remitted at the time of booking, the deposit is refunded after inspection of the villa upon your departure to the account from which it was paid.

Are pets allowed at the villa?

Yes, pets are always welcome, with an additional damage/cleaning deposit.

Can you arrange for additional services?

We are happy to facilitate additional services for you upon request.

Can you help with our travel arrangements before and after our villa stay?

We typically do not become involved in our guests’ travel arrangements, but we are happy to try to help where we can.

Will there be a hair dryer or other essentials in my villa?

Yes, we have hairdryers at the villa and other essentials.  You should bring your own power converters; the house runs on Italian power. We also have a clothes washing machine and clothes dryer available for your use.

Can you make arrangements for disabled travelers?

Montepulciano is a difficult environment for disabled travelers.  It is hilly, steep, and there are many areas with steps.  One of our bedrooms is well suited for those with disabilities.

How can I get a cell phone to use in Italy?

There are many SIM card vendors and mobile phone stores at the airport and in the cities.  While not available in Montepulciano itself, SIM card purveyors can be found in nearby towns.

Can I use my computer in my villa?

Yes, you can use your computers and mobile devices.  The Villa has a robust WiFi network that is free of charge.

Do I need to bring a converter for my appliances?

Yes, you should bring a converter for your appliances.  We can purchase some for you for your convenience.  The Villa runs on Italian electric power.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is anytime after 4 p.m.  Check-out is anytime before 9 a.m.  Please let us know if you need other arrangements.
